William Knight, age 88, entered his heavenly home on Sunday, July 26, 2026. He was born at home in the Rocky Mound community of Macon County, Tennessee, on May 16, 1938, to Homer and Ella Knight. 

From an early age, William demonstrated the deep love he had for his family. As a young boy, he would save treats from school to share with his mother and sister, a simple gesture that reflected the generous heart he carried throughout his life. William cherished every opportunity to spend time with his parents and siblings, and family remained one of the greatest priorities of his life. William cut firewood for his family, parents, and in-laws for 20 years. He also shared his home and helped care for his disabled brother-in-law for over 30 years. William was truly a consistent source of love, self-sacrifice, and pillar of support for his family. 

William proudly served his country in the National Guard for six years. During his service, he married the love of his life and best friend, Evelyn, on April 13, 1962. Farming was more than William's job—it was his life's work and passion. He primarily raised cattle but was also experienced farming chickens, sheep, and tobacco. For over 50 years, he raised livestock and crops, and bailed hay. William retired at 86 years old, but he still visited the farm frequently. William spent countless hours on his tractor, and anyone who knew him knew he truly lived and breathed farming. 

William had an impressive skill set; he was an exceptional mechanic, skilled in plumbing and electrical work, and taught himself welding and tool-and-die work. If he didn't have the tool he needed, he simply built it himself. 

William enjoyed hunting small game, target shooting, and, most of all, teaching his family the values and traditions of farm life. Those moments spent working alongside him became treasured memories and lasting lessons. William was faithful servant of the Lord, he was a longtime member of Palmers Chapel Church of Christ until the congregation closed during the COVID-19 pandemic. There, he actively served as both song leader and treasurer. He later attended Cottontown Church of Christ. William read his Bible daily and devoted himself to carefully studying and understanding God's Word. 

William will be remembered as a man of unwavering integrity, quiet strength, and humble spirit. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a cherished "Pa." His calming presence, gentle wisdom, and unconditional love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

William Leslie Knight is survived by his wife of 64 years, Evelyn Knight; daughter, Sandra Meguiar (Bill); son, Nathan Knight (Jaime); grandsons, William T. Meguiar, Christian Meguiar, Samuel Knight, Jacob Knight; brother-in-law, Joe Strother; sister-in-law, Cheryl Strother, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Homer E. Knight Sr.; mother, Ella (Dixon) Knight; brothers, Glen Knight, Charles Knight, Earl Knight; and sister, Esther Knight.

Funeral Services will take place at Crestview Funeral Home, on Thursday, July 30, 2026. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, and continue until time of service at 1:00 PM. Bro. Doug Parks will be officiating. Interment in Crestview Memory Gardens will immediately follow. Those serving as pallbearers are William T. Meguiar, Christian Meguiar, Samuel Knight, Jacob Knight, Jay Knight, and Jeff Knight. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Ragland, Charles Pitt, Adam Briley, and Scott Lamberth.
