Vivian Fakhoury

Vivian Fakhoury, age 82, died peacefully in her sleep Sunday, July 24, 2016 at her home in Gallatin, TN.

Vivian was born February 13, 1934 in Jaffa, Palestine and is of Christian Arabic descent. She legally immigrated and became a United States citizen in 1956, a day she often told others was one of the most important moments of her life.

She is survived by her husband, of nearly 60 years, Louis; son, Roger and wife Toni, her daughter-in-law, Barbara and her grandchildren Christian, Kyle and Reagen and brother, Habib Carouba. Her second son, Gary, predeceased her.

In 1967 she became a member of the Church of God and remained so for nearly 50 years. Her husband was a long-time elder in the Church. In 2014 she and her husband moved to the Nashville, TN area.

Vivian's life was a testament to the cornerstones of her devotions to God, family, friends and community. While she spent much of her life as a housewife and homemaker, her greatest joy was as a renowned middle-eastern cook by serving others through the food she prepared.

In particular, her arabic pastries, especially baklava, was heralded by many to be among the finest delicacies found anywhere. She had hundreds of dinner functions over many years. Vivian loved to share the food of her family heritage with many people of different backgrounds and cultures. She spread love through her devotions and culinary skills to affect lives around the world. She will be deeply missed and never replaced.
