Obituary

Virldean Baker, 88, of Gallatin, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2026. She was born October 10, 1937, in Whitley, Kentucky, to the late Kermit and Lucille Watson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Baker; son, Rick Rice; brothers, Gary Watson and Alan Watson; sister, Norma Jean Johnson; grandson, Steven Franklin. Survived by her daughters, Debra Hamilton, Lisa Douchette, and Rhonda McCutcheon; sister, Sue Tyler; brother, Ronnie Watson; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Virldean had a love for music and dancing, and could always find a reason to celebrate. She enjoyed spending time at yard sales, trying her luck at gambling, and most of all, cooking and gathering with people she loved. She cherished holidays and the special memories she made with her family. Virldean also took great pride in her appearance and loved to dress like the classy southern lady she was… always carrying herself with grace, style, and a touch of southern charm.

There are no words that can truly express the grief of losing the woman who gave us life, loved us unconditionally, and was such an important part of our family. We are heartbroken, but we are also incredibly grateful for every memory, every hug, every laugh, and every moment we were blessed to have with her.

A celebration of her life officiated by Pastor Dan Smith will be held on Saturday, November 7, at 2pm at Crestview Funeral Home.  Family will welcome friends and visitors from 12pm til 2pm.  Her ashes will be interred in Crestview Memory Gardens.

Mom, you will forever be loved, forever missed, and forever carried in our hearts. Your love will continue to live through all of us and through the family you created and loved so dearly.

We ask our family and friends to keep all of us in your thoughts and prayers as we try to find our way through this unimaginable loss.

Rest peacefully, Mom. 🕊️❤️

Until we meet again, we love you more than words could ever say.
