Tammy Jean Schutter-Poteet, age 66, of Gallatin, entered intorest on Sunday, April 19, 2026. She was born on September 21, 1959, in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Tammy dedicated over 30 years of her life to nursing, serving as a compassionate and skilled registered nurse. She was known for her strong work ethic and her deep passion for taking care of others.
Outside of her career, Tammy had a great love for animals, especially her beloved Border Collies. She also enjoyed the outdoors, where she found peace in admiring nature and tending to her flowers. Tammy loved the beach, as well as music, and spending time with her family and friends.
Above all, Tammy cherished her family. She adored her grandchildren and treasured every moment spent with them.
Tammy will be remembered for her dedication and the love she so freely gave to those around her.
Tammy Jean Schutter-Poteet will be dearly missed by her son, Kristopher Schutter (Carrie); daughter, Elizabeth Crowder (Ben); grandchildren, Madison Schutter, McKinley Schutter, Macey Schutter, Ava Crowder, and Adley Crowder.
She was preceded in death by her first husband and father to her children, Derk Schutter; her latter husband, James Poteet; father, Jacob Johnson; mother, Helen (Myers) Johnson; and sister Gwendolyn Elliott (Jack).
Following her cremation, there will be a graveside service in honor of Tammy at Sumner Memorial Gardens (located: 420 Albert Gallatin Rd., Gallatin, TN, 37066), Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. Pastor Jerry Ladd will be officiating.
