Sylvia "Ann"
Phillips
February 20, 1957 – April 24, 2026
Sylvia “Ann” Phillips, a sweet and soft-hearted woman known for her selflessness and readiness to help those in need, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 24, 2026, in Gallatin, Tennessee. Born on February 20, 1957, in Portland, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Henry Marvin Phillps and Jeanette Collier Phillips. Ann lived a life filled with love, dedication, and kindness, touching the hearts of all who knew her.
Ann was formerly employed as a welder at Globe Furniture Manufacturers, where she contributed her skilled labor with unwavering commitment. Beyond her professional work, she was widely recognized as the best homemaker in the world, a role she embraced with grace and devotion. Her home was a warm haven, always welcoming, and she had a unique way of making everyone feel cared for—often keeping candy on hand for visitors and frequently apologizing for things she had nothing to do with, reflecting her gentle and considerate nature.
Her deepest joys came from her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. Ann found delight in spending time with them and cherished every moment of their shared memories. She was also an avid enthusiast of car shows, where she appreciated the beauty and craftsmanship of cars and motorcycles. A faithful member of her community, she attended Rocky Creek Baptist Church and, more recently, Wolf Hill Baptist Church, finding strength and fellowship in her faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Thomas Earl Gray; sisters Kathy Phillips and Julia Marie Phillips.
Ann is lovingly remembered by her son, Bobby Lane Woods; daughter, Jessie Marie Gray; sister, Pamela Phillips; brothers, Carl Walker and Derek Phillips; grandchildren, Rebecca Gray, Jaxson Woods, Michael Gray, Ingram Parris, Krimson Parris, and Joseph Dewayne Parris; great-grandchildren, Mariah Gray, Thomas Williams, and Hayden Gray Williams; as well as several nieces and nephews who also carry her memory in their hearts.
Family, friends, and all who had the honor of knowing Ann are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Friday, May 1, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Crestview Memory Gardens, Funeral Home & Cremation Center, located at 1623 Hwy 109 N, Gallatin, Tennessee. This will be followed immediately by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at the same venue. Burial will take place thereafter at the Key Family Cemetery on Keytown Road in Portland, Tennessee.
Ann leaves behind a legacy of warmth, humility, and compassion. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her tender heart and the countless acts of kindness she bestowed upon those fortunate enough to have known her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
