Raymond D. "Ray" Canter, age 75, of Gallatin, TN, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2016. Preceded in death by his parents; Willie Hazel and Rachel Elizabeth (Dickens) Canter, daughter, Michelle Lynn Jones, sister, Isola Canter (Dorris) and brothers, Webb Allen Canter and James Edward Canter.

Ray is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Nancy Louise Canter (Gregory), daughter, Sherry (Mike) Ray, grandchildren; Michael (Ashlee) Ray Jr., Amanda Ray, Haley Jones, Alyssa (Jared) Aller and great-granddaughter, Kylie Stewart. Ray is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Ray was born on September 20, 1941 in Gallatin, TN. He worked as a Project Manager for many construction companies in the area. He was a volunteer fireman with the Gallatin Fire Department. Ray was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing on Old Hickory Lake. His favorite dish was Louise's meatloaf. Ray enjoyed NASCAR and his favorite driver was Matt Kenseth. Ray loved being in the outdoors and enjoyed camping. He was an honest, loving and caring family man, with a wonderful sense of humor and made everyone laugh. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Ray will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

A Life Celebration for Ray will be held at Crestview Funeral Home on Monday, September 26th at 10:00AM, officiated by Pastor Joe Porter. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 25th from 2:00PM - 8:00PM and again one hour prior the service on Monday. Interment will take place Monday at Crestview Memory Gardens.
