Jean Thompson

Jean Thompson, age 89, of Gallatin, Tennessee, entered into rest on Tuesday, July 25, 2023.

She was born on May 4, 1934, in Vernon, Kentucky, to her parents Travis and Vela Thompson.

In her life she was one of three children, and was known to playfully jest, or to banter lovingly with her family. Ms. Jean also loved to read, and was an avid bookworm. She worked in Nashville, Tennessee, for 42 years, at the Federal Credit Bureau, and retired as the administrative assistant. Jean was a member of Bush’s Chapel Church of Christ as well.

Ola Jean Thompson, is survived by her sister-in-law, Carol Thompson; nephews, Stacey Thompson (Mandy), and Connor Thompson; niece, Julie (Sathre) Vazquez (Ray); great nieces, Bonita Vazquez, Michaela Thompson, and Samantha Rodriguez (Edgar); great nephews, Great Nephews Stephen Sathre (Tiffany), and Caleb Vazquez; and great-great nephew, Alex Vazquez.

She was preceded in death by her father, Travis C. Thompson; mother, Vela J. (Daniel) Thompson; brother, Herman C. Thompson; sister, Iva (Thompson) Sathre; and nephew, William Sathre.

Visitation will be held at Crestview Funeral Home, on Saturday, July 29, 2023, between 9:00 A.M. and 11:00 A.M.

Followed by a graveside service at 11:00 A.M., at Crestview Memory Gardens.  

Poem of Life

Life is but a stopping place,

A pause in what’s to be,

A resting place along the road,

To sweet eternity.

We all have different journeys,

Different paths along the way

We all were meant to learn some things,

But never meant to stay…

Our destination is a place,

Far greater than we know.

For some the journey’s quicker,

For some the journey’s slow.

And when the journey finally ends,

We’ll claim a great reward

And find an everlasting peace,

Together with the Lord.
