Melba J. Porter- Age 64 of Bethpage passed away December 28, 2014 after a long battle with cancer.

Melba was a feisty firecracker with a smile that could light up the room. She was a very kind loving, generous and selfless woman who would help anyone in need. She was a strong Christian woman that was a long time member of Bledsoe Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed camping, traveling, word puzzles, memory games, and spending time & taking care of her family, especially the grandchildren. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, and loved by who ever she met.

Preceded in death by her parents, Victoria Murdock Gable & Ben Gable; son, Charles Wesley Porter, II; sister, Linda; several brothers. Survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Paul Porter, Sr.; children, Paul Porter, Jr. (Stacy), Lois Annette Fuqua (Jeff); daughter-in-law, Linda Porter; grandchildren, Wes Fuqua, Paul Porter, III, Charles Porter, III, Allen Porter, Robert Porter, Joshua Porter and Megan Porter; great-grandchildren, Kaylynn Fuqua and Colton Robinson; sisters, Ophellia, Diane, Jeanette, Edaline, Barbara & Kathy; brothers, Jimmy & Wayne; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

A Life Celebration will be held 1pm Wednesday December 31, 2014 at Bledsoe Creek Baptist Church. Visitation will be 11:00am - 1:00pm Wednesday at the church.
