CORNWELL, Mary Boddie Swaney Elizer – age 91, of Hendersonville, TN went to be with the Lord on June 29, 2013. She was born in Gallatin, TN on August 11, 1921 to the late Frank Swaney and Sara Boddie Swaney Goode . Mary was a graduate of Gallatin High School. She continued her education at Martin College where she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honorary Society, the student council and played on the basketball team. She then went to work for National Life. She married R. B. Elizer and became part of the R. B. Elizer Construction Company. Later in life she worked for TN Department of Human Services as a Social Worker. She was an avid sports fan who also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, bird watching, traveling, and farm life, especially cattle. She was an elder of Old Beech Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a member of the Beech Nuts Rookers . She was a truly good woman who loved her friends and her family and will be dearly missed. She is preceded in death by her husbands R.B. Elizer and Clay Cornwell; son, Robert Allen Elizer. She is survived by her children, Sarah Gibeau, Harriett Bible Wayne, Dick Elizer Carol, Patricia McDuffee Tommy and Diane Kizer; 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. A Life Celebration Service will be held Tuesday 2 p.m. at Old Beech Cumberland Presbyterian Church 3216 Long Hollow Pike Hendersonville, TN 37075 with Malcolm Patton & Lisa Oliver officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4-8 p.m. at Hendersonville Funeral Home and on Tuesday from 1-2 p.m. at Old Beech Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Pallbearers are Scott Cole, Charles Baird, Christopher Elizer, Keith Wilson, Paul Bible, Marty Wright, James Karwisch, Sheldon Clowdus & Bob Elizer. Honorary pallbearers will be the Emma Elizer Sunday School Class, Ladies of C.P.W., Beech Nuts, Robert Avant, Tom Hunter, Jr., Michael Kizer, and Glenn Bloodworth. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Old Beech Historic Cemetery or the charity of your choice.
