Age 80, of Hendersonville, passed away September 18, 2016.

Mrs. Pate was born in 1936, the daughter of a Nazarene pastor. From an early age, she loved to sing hymns and play the piano. As a daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, she shared a deep love for her family, expressed in her sewing, cooking, travelling, nurturing, and mentoring. In 1960, she married Jim Pate, beginning a journey of over 56 years with the love of her life. Martha's love of her Lord was demonstrated in her lifelong commitment to Christian service as a youth leader, nursery worker, women's Bible study leader, and Sunday School teacher. With Jim, she shared a deep love of family, Bible study, prayer, and Christian service.

Survived by her husband, Jim; sons, Jim (Julie), Joe (Danelle), and Jeff (Tami); daughter, Jane (Scott); 11 grandchildren, Eric, Jonathon, Elizabeth, Hannah Ben, Lauren, Andrew, Sam Stephen, Amanda & Rebekah; sister, Becky (Mike); brothers, Paul (Carolyn), Ronnie (Ruth), Billy (Nancy), Donnie (Debra).

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to NFCN Youth Group or Alive Hospice.

A Life Celebration will be held 1:00pm, Wednesday, September 21st at Nashville First Church of the Nazarene, 510 Woodland St., Nashville, TN. with burial to follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens. Active Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers will be NFCN Victory Class & Tuesday Morning Ladies' Bible study. Visitation will be 11:00am - 1:00pm Wednesday at the church.
