Lewis Lyell, age 82, of Portland, entered into rest on June 16, 2025.
He was born on August 27, 1942, in Ripley, Tennessee. As a young man, Lewis served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee of Martin. He worked as a district manager for RGIS Inventory Specialist for many years. After he “retired” from RGIS, Lewis sold real estate with Coldwell Banker and Barnes, for at least 10 years in the Gallatin area.
For leisure, Lewis spent most of his time outside. He had a deep appreciation of nature, and truly admired it. Lewis enjoyed golfing, fishing, and visiting state parks. He was a very attentive gardener and grew many vegetables and breathtaking flowers. Lilys, iris’, and roses were some of his favorites. Lewis had a nurturing spirit, he was always going the extra mile for his family and helping others. Lewis attended Gallatin Church of God, and it brought him joy to worship the Lord in song and listen to gospel music.
Lewis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
