Kathy DeReece Lawson

Kathy Dereece (Burgett) Lawson, born March 25, 1955, age 70, of Gallatin, TN, passed

away on Jan 2, 2026. At 6:00am in the (ER) At Hendersonville Hospital.

Kathy was a woman of deep compassion, a nurturing soul, whose life was devoted to 

caring for others. She had a heart that never ran out of room and a spirit that found joy in

serving. Through her work at Evergreen Ministries, Kathy lovingly cared for disabled adults

and Children with special needs, offering not just support, but dignity, patience, and

genuine love. To many, she was more than a caregiver-she was family. Kathy truly was a

mother to many.

She found happiness in simple, meaningful moments-cooking large meals that brought

everyone together, filling her home with warmth, laughter, and the comfort of being loved.

Her positive attitude and joyful heart touched countless lives, and her presence left a

lasting imprint on everyone who knew her.

Kathy's memory will be deeply cherished and forever treasured by those who loved her. She

will be dearly and sorely missed.

She is survived by her twin sons, Brad Lawson and Chad Lawson. Her sisters, Pam Vaughn,

Sheila Graves, and Angie Walker. Also, there are over 20 plus Grandchildren and great

grandchildren as well as one great, great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Cindy Marie Lawson Hatton; her

father, Peter (Pete) Franklin Burgett; her mother, Mary (Reece) Malone Burgett; and her

siblings, Stevie, Rocky, Tracey, Tony, Teresa Burgett.

A service celebrating Kathy's life will be held on Jan 17, 2026, at 12:00pm to 2:00pm. at

Good Shephard Independent Baptist Church (located at 1163 Campbell Rd,

Goodlettsville, TN 37072). All are welcome to attend. The family invites guests to bring

a dish to share, as this is a Gathering of friends, family and all whose lives were

touched by Kathy.

Kathy's ashes will be laid to rest Crestview cemetery during a private ceremony later

that day, honoring her life and her memory.
