Joan Koenig

Ms. Joan Opal Koenig, age 86, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2018. She was born on August 13, 1932 in Elgin, IL to the late Everett and Irene Blackman. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Joost Koenig; daughter, Heidi Lynn Koenig; and sister, Patricia Irelan.

Joan was a nurse for 40 years. She attended St Francis Nursing School in Evanston, IL. She started as a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse then later transitioned to working in a skilled nursing facility. She lived in Orange County, CA from 1963-1997 with her family before moving to Tennessee. She was an avid Angels Baseball fan. She was the picture of a 1950s house wife; she loved her family and was their biggest supporter. She taught her children how to love and excel in life.

Joan is survived by her children, Rebecca Runyan (Jeff) and Eric Joost Koenig (Paula); grandchildren, Nichole Campbell (Levi), Sarah Koenig, and Matthew Koenig; grandchild, Emma Campbell; aunt, June Tongue; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held 11am, Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Crestview Memory Gardens.
