Jimmy E. Hopkins, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on March 6, 2026, in Gallatin, Tennessee, at the age of 93. Born on March 22, 1932, in Nashville, Tennessee, Jimmy lived a life full of purpose and love.
For 36 years, Jimmy dedicated himself to the Ford Glass Plant, where his hard work and commitment made him a respected member of the workforce. Beyond his professional endeavors, he was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, embodying the values of service and dedication that characterized his life.
A man of deep faith, Jimmy was a valued member of the Westend Baptist Church of Gallatin. Known for his strong character, Jimmy was a Godly man who exhibited qualities of sternness combined with forgiveness, honesty, and remarkable patience. His good sense of humor brought joy to those around him, and he had a remarkable ability to uplift others through laughter.
Jimmy is remembered fondly as a wonderful husband and affectionately known as "Poppy Hoppy" to his family. He cherished his time spent on the water, enjoying fishing and demonstrating his strong swimming abilities.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 62 years, Shirley Hopkins; daughters, Kim Pendarvis and Cindy Kuertz (Chuck); grandchildren, Rob Pendarvis, Ben Pendarvis, Lee Allen Pendarvis, Chase Kuertz (Wendy), Brittany Davis (Phillip), Candace Arendall (Trevor Henley), Haley Robinson (Joey); as well as great-grandchildren, Jaci Pendarvis, Sam Pendarvis, Cora Pendarvis, Rheagan Thompson, Elsa Thompson, Penny Davis, Dottie Davis, Brock Robinson, Knox Robinson; and niece, Linda Galyan.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Richard Hopkins; mother, Ritha Hopkins; sisters, Martha Webster, Dot Kelley, Ruby Bracey; brother, George Hopkins; and son-in-law, Al Pendarvis.
