SFC Jimmie R. Watson, U.S. Army, Ret.; age 76 of Gallatin passed away November 8, 2018 at his home. Jimmie was born on March 29, 1942 in Glasgow, KY to the late Russell and Allie Watson. Born in Glasgow, and raised in Nashville; Jimmie was a 1960 graduate of Goodlettsville High School; following high school Jimmie joined the U.S. Air Force where he served for four years; later he joined the U.S. Army where he proudly served for twenty years, retiring at the rank of Sergeant First Class; he served as a Ranger in the 2nd Ranger Battalion, and served in both Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Jimmie, his son, Tim and grandson, Donnie, are 3 generations of Rangers in the 75th Ranger Regiment. All of Jimmie's sons served their nation in the military. After retirement, Jimmie and his wife, Sharron moved to Gallatin where he went to work at the Sumner County Sheriff's Office, retiring with many years of service. Jimmie was all of these things, but he was also a loving husband and father, and a very proud grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sharron Watson; children, Tim Watson (Karen), Melissa Basford (Matt), Jason Watson (Denise), James Watson (Nikki), Travis Watson (Melissa), and Nick Watson (Andrea); 16 grandchildren; and sister, Sandra Vance (Phil). A Life Celebration Service honoring Jimmie will be held on Saturday, November 17th at 12:00 P.M. from the Chapel of Crestview Funeral Home with his nephew, Ronnie Tennant officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Crestview Memory Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Saturday from 11 A.M. until time of service.
