James L. Brimm, a beloved figure in the Gallatin community, passed away on February 16, 2026, at the age of 94. Born on February 25, 1931, in Gallatin, Tennessee, James lived a life marked by service, dedication, and deep-rooted values that touched the hearts of all who knew him.
James had the distinction of serving his country as a military police officer in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. This experience instilled in him a profound sense of integrity, which he carried throughout his life. After returning home, he worked at the Gallatin Post Office for over 50 years, becoming a fixture in the community and earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and patrons alike.
James was not only a man of remarkable character but also a man of faith. He was an active member of Cairo Methodist Church, where he shared his beautiful singing voice as a song leader and imparted knowledge as a Sunday school teacher. His faith and commitment to the church were central to his life and influenced many around him.
He inherited the family farm, a legacy that had been passed down for over 100 years. James had a love for working the land, enjoying activities such as bushhogging, raising cattle with his father, and cultivating tobacco. This connection to his roots was a source of pride and joy, exemplifying his hardworking nature.
James also had a passion for sports, being a season ticket holder of Gallatin High School Football since 1974. No matter the weather, he was a steadfast supporter of the team. He cherished moments spent square dancing with his beloved wife, Peggy Ann Brimm, whom he missed dearly after her passing. Her memory was a comforting thought for his family, who take solace in knowing he has been reunited with her.
James is survived by his children, Cindy Hawkins, Terri Bentley (Al), John Brimm (Annette), and Mike Brimm (Bev); as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each carrying a piece of his legacy in their hearts. His living family includes grandchildren Chris Hawkins (Ann), Rachel Alvis (Trey), Libby Boone (Nathan), Becky Rogers (Johnny), Brittany Piro (Andrew), James Brimm, Joshua Brimm (Trinity), Jessica Mason (Will), Christina Dougal (Luke), Matt Brimm (Amber), Allison Hightower (Josh), and Hannah Williams(Devon); and great-grandchildren Addison Hawkins, Christian Hawkins, Lana Alvis, Bo Boone, Eliza Boone, Luke Rogers, Lincoln Rogers, Levi Rogers, Gavin Stover, Mason Stover, Liam Mason, Logan Mason, Olivia Mason, Kylie Piro, Kaylen Hightower, Eve Brimm, Hazel Brimm, Ruby Dougal, Asher Dougal, and Lottie Brimm.
James is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years, Peggy Ann Brimm; his father, J.B. Brimm; his mother, Maude Brimm; sister, Helen Dorris; and son-in-law, Stanley Hawkins. His legacy of love, hard work, and unwavering faith leaves an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation will be held on February 19, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and again on February 20 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at Crestview Memory Gardens, Funeral Home & Cremation, located at 1623 Hwy 109 N, Gallatin, TN 37066. A funeral service will take place at the same location on February 20 at 1:00 PM, officiated by Bro. Dickie Johnson; with burial to immediately follow.
James L. Brimm will be dearly missed but forever remembered for his honesty, integrity, and the love he showed to his family and friends.
