Irvin Lawrence Benno, known to loved ones as Larry, passed away to be with the Lord on 18th February 2015 at Alive Hospice in Madison, TN at the age of 75.
Larry was born on December 27, 1939 in Dallas, TX to Martin Benno and Fan (Benno) Caris. He graduated from Highland Park High School in 1958. Then went on to graduate college at SMU in 1962 where he received his BBA and shined as a musician in the Mustang Band. Later that year, Larry joined the U.S. Navy and was assigned to the U.S.S.Oriskanny. During his honorable service for his Country he achieved the rank or LT. After moving back to Dallas, TX, Larry began his career with American Airlines. He married his soulmate, Patricia (Coley) Benno in December of 1967. He retired after dedicating over 25 years of service to American Airlines. Larry didn't stop there. He went on to become the Vice President and retire once more at the Nashville Metropolitan Airport Authority. His children remember him as a hardworking, loving, inspirational, dedicated father who encouraged them to pursue their goals and always be true to themselves.
Larry was accomplished at many skills and various talents. He was a generous, kind and caring individual who loved cars and the news and was passionate about music, religion, and above all his family. He always made time for his family attending Band Performances, Football Games, Swim Meets, Karate Tournaments, and Theater performances while keeping time for his lovely wife Patti. He was an active and dedicated member of the United Way and often volunteered for the Hendersonville High School Band, and at Church as an Executive Board member for many years.
Larry is survived by his mother Fan (Benno) Caris of Addison, TX; his wife Patricia Benno; brothers, Steve and Bobby Benno; sons, William (wife Mary) Benno, Richard Benno, and daughter Marisa (Benno) Gordon; grandchildren, Chloe, Samuel, and Joseph. He is preceded in death by his Father, Martin Benno of Dallas, TX.
A Life Celebration will be held 2pm Saturday February 21, 2014, with Rev. Kyle Gott officiating at Crestview Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens with Military honors. Visitation will be held 12:00pm - 2:00pm Saturday at Funeral Home.
All who Larry touched in his life are welcome to attend and celebrate his life. The family would like to thank Alive Hospice of Madison, TN for {his/her/their} {efforts/care/dedication} during his final days with us.
