Obituary

Gary Lee Anderson, age 81, of Gallatin, Tennessee, entered into rest on March 12, 2026. He was born on April 2, 1944, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Gary was a proud Marine and Vietnam Veteran. Following his military service, Gary worked for over 30 years with the Local 669 Union.

Gary was a man of sacrifice and was devoted to his family. He fiercely loved his children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter; he was lovingly known as Poppie or Papa. He gave generously and was a rock during times of uncertainty. Gary was a jokester and shared many smiles and laughs that were contagious.

You could often find Gary walking at Tripple Creek Park, or dining at Mable’s or Mary’s Place. He was also a long-time member of Weight Watchers group in Gallatin, and made many lasting friendships, especially with Carrie.

Gary also enjoyed collecting coins and watching western and war movies, especially Gun Smoke. He also had great pride in his Michigan Roots and was a loyal sports fan of the Detroit Lions and Michigan Wolverines.

Gary touched the lives of many, and his family will forever cherish their memories together.

Gary Lee Anderson will be dearly missed by his daughter, Melissa Horsley (Ray); son, David Anderson (Christie); grandchildren, Rachel Jacobs (Steven), Tristan Harris, Autumn Anderson; great-granddaughter, Reagan Jacobs; sister, Edith McBride; brother, Kenny Anderson (Lori); as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Harris; father, Roland Anderson; mother, Mary (Mobley) Anderson; and brother, Ron Anderson.

Funeral services in honor of Gary Lee Anderson will be held at Crestview Funeral Home, Memory Gardens, and Cremation, on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM and continue until the graveside service at 3:00 PM. Interment will immediately follow the rendering of military funeral honors. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family of Gary Anderson gives their sincere appreciation to Gallatin Center of Rehab and Healing, and to Dr. Subir Guha, for their compassionate care.
