Flemon “Lee” Harper, 84, of Castalian Springs, TN, passed away in his sleep on 28 May 2024. Flemon was born on 7 August 1939, to Lillard and Evie, and the youngest sibling to Shirley and John Harper, in Gallatin, Tennessee.
Flemon faithfully served 21 years in the United States Navy as a Supply Ship Serviceman, retiring to the prestigious rank of Chief Petty Officer. SHC Harper served 15 of his 21 years on US Navy Destroyer Ships deployed to Vietnam, Yokosuka, Japan, Pearl Harbor, Hawai’i, Long Beach and San Diego, California. His Shore Duty Stations were in Camp Lejeune, NC and Yokosuka, Japan. Lee, as most knew him as, was a simple and humble man who enjoyed watching Western TV Shows, Tennessee Football and horror movies. He always enjoyed cooking breakfast for his family and dining out at Chinese restaurants. Not one to sit still at home he could often be found driving around town looking for garage sales and always bargaining at flea markets.
Flemon Lee Harper is survived by his daughter, Dawn Lee Kehaulani Harper; son, Chad Dwayne Harper (Tonya); granddaughter, Ashley Taylor; nephews, Timmy Harper (Brenda), Lil Timmy Haper; cousin, Peggy Lemons; sister-in-law, Alfrieda McMillan; and grand-dog, Maza.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Jobyna Chong Yuk “Sid” Harper; son, Ian Westley Harper; parents, Lillard and Evie Harper; and siblings, Shirley and John Harper.
Following his cremation, Mr. Harper will be buried in Gallatin City Cemetery, next to his wife and son, with the rendering of Full Military Honors.
