Euna G. Overbay Deaton

September 8, 1944 — September 11, 2023

Gallatin

Euna G. (Overbay) Deaton, age 79, of Gallatin, Tennessee, entered into rest in early morning on Monday, September 11, 2023.

Euna was born on September 8, 1944 to her parents Arnold and Annie Mary Overbay in Marion, Virginia. She was one of seven children - she loved being a sister. Growing up, Euna's love to sing began as a very small child and continued to be a passion for her as an adult. She spent her life singing vocals for major country and gospel artists like The Jordanaires. The singing group she was in with her sisters, The Overbay Sisters, were crowned vocal group of the year by the Country Gospel Music Association. When she was able, she always joined in on songs and encouraged everyone to sing along. For fun, she loved to play (and win) all kinds of card games, loved all entertainment from movies to dance and live theater, enjoyed the slots, and she absolutely loved to laugh. Outside of hobbies like interior decoration, admiring historic architecture and traveling, her favorite thing was having everyone she loved around the dinner table to simply be together.

Euna worked in nursing for 48 years as an LPN and she cared for her patients like they were her family. During that time she was married to her husband, Vernon Deaton Sr., and they had three children together. Euna cherished the time she spent with her family and was incredibly proud of her children and grandchildren. She loved God and her family more than anything.

Euna is survived by her daughter, Valerie Grant (Robert Grant); sons Vernon Lee Deaton (Janet Deaton), Victor Boyd Deaton (Sharada Deaton) grandchildren: Jimmy Deaton, Jesse Deaton, Josie Deaton, Mary-Molly Storey, Annie Elizabeth Storey; great great grandchildren, Jaiden Deaton, Jude Deaton, Ezariah Deaton; brothers, Harold Overbay, Ardith Riley Overbay; and sister, Willie Mae Grace.

She is preceded in death by her father, Arnold Overbay; mother, Annie Mary (Callahan) Overbay; husband of 29 years, Vernon Deaton Sr.; grandson, Jacob Deaton; sisters, Mary Stamper, Veneta Wray; and brother, Barney Lee Overbay.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, September 14, 2023, from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.; and again on Friday, September 15, from 11:00 A.M., until service time at 1:00 P.M.
Bro. Phil Wilson will be officiating services. Burial will immediately follow in Crestview Memory Gardens.

The family of Euna Deaton would like to thank, "the little hospital with a big heart," otherwise known as, High Pointe Hospice and Sumner Regional Medical Center, for the outstanding care they provided.
