Estelle McMurtry Higgins

"Essie" was born October 6, 1923 in Goodlettsville, TN to Luther and Ruth McMurtry (Callis). She was a graduate of the Baptist School or Nursing, and practiced as a Registered Nurse for over 40 years. She loved camping, reading, sewing, working in her yard, and her evening toddy. Most of all, she loved her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Paul Monroe Higgins, her daughter Gwendolyn Trindell, and 9 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Paula Hinsdale (Larry) of Greenville, SC, her grandsons Samuel Hinsdale of Charlotte NC, and Charles Hinsdale of Boone, NC, her sisters Nell Corder (David) of Searcy AR, and Vera Perotta of New Castle PA, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The burial will be private.

There will be a celebration of Essie's life for family and friends Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 3pm-6pm at 106 Bay Drive, Hendersonville TN.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
