Mr. David Potts, age 84, of Gallatin, passed away on March 12, 2021. He was born in Morocco, IN on April 17, 1936 to the late Robert and Margaret Roderick Potts. He is also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

David is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mrs. Janice Flynn Potts; children, Rochelle (Robert) DeGraff, Mindy Bell, Gaela (Chuck) Whitaker, and Fred Potts; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, one great great grandchild. He is also survived by one sister, Connie Walters, sister in law, Carol Wright, and several nieces and nephews.

David loved spending time with his family, especially when Sunday dinners and cookouts. He was a member of the United States Air Force for four years and then joined the United States Army for 27 years. He served in three tours of duty in Vietnam, was injured twice and served in Korea once. While in the Army, he was the Master Sgt. Major in the Aviation Division of the Cobra Helicopter and served as an Instructor for Aviation-Cobra Helicopters. Later he served as Advisor to the Air National Guard in Aviation-Helicopters. After retiring from the military, he began working at the Nashville TN Post Office, retired, then worked at the Nashville Super Speedway racetrack.

Often, you could find David outside gardening, growing vegetables, planting trees and flowers, and feeding and watching the birds. He loved all things NASCAR and watching the races. He was an avid football lover. Big Fan of the TN Titans but was especially fond of the Dallas Cowboys.

Some of his favorite foods were apple pies with vanilla ice cream and biscuits and gravy. He loved to tease people and make people laugh. His favorite story to tell at Christmas was his first date with Ms. Janice on Christmas Eve. He never got tired of telling her that he loved her. When he was a teenager, you would often find him at the All American gas station watching the girls cross Hwy 41 and one of them was Janice.

A life celebration will be held at 12pm on Tuesday, March 16th in the chapel of Crestview Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 10am-12pm prior to the service on Tuesday at noon. His burial will be at 1:00pm in the Crestview Memory
