Clifford Hunt, age 88, of Gallatin, Tennessee, (formerly of Hardy, KY) entered his eternal rest on March 17, 2019. Clifford was born on December 8, 1930, in Pike County, KY to the (late) Warren and Ora (Thacker) Hunt. At the age of five, Clifford's mother died, so he spent much of his early life being reared by his beloved grandparents-Perry and Ollie Hunt.

He is survived by his wife, Mary (Scott) Hunt. They were married on March 30, 1953 (almost 66 years ago). They were blessed with two sons, Clifford Steven (Darla) Hunt of Gallatin, TN and Leslie Mark (Agnes) Hunt of Mt. Juliet, TN. Cliff and Mary were also blessed with five grandchildren-Joshua Hunt, Nathan Hunt, Natalie Hunt, Tasha Gregory, and Lisa Ibay, as well as four great-grandchildren. Clifford had three siblings, Michael Hunt, of Tazewell, VA, and a sister and brother, Lillian Stepp and Ralph Hunt, who preceded him in death.

Clifford, a Korean War veteran, was employed in his early years as a coal miner in the rural Appalachian mountains, as a welder in Williamson, WV, and lastly on the railroad, in the Williamson yard and Grundy, VA locations. Later he served in supervision and management as a general foreman for the Norfolk & Southern Railroad until his retirement in 1986. Cliff was very thankful for his position and employment. Railroading was not only his work but "his play" as well.

Most importantly, he was a believer in Jesus Christ and rejoiced in his salvation that he knew was imparted to him by God's Electing Love and Amazing Grace. Clifford served as a deacon at Old Pond Primitive Baptist Church, Belfry, KY, for many years. Upon moving to Tennessee, he became a member of the Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in Goodlettsville, TN.

The family will receive friends Friday evening, March 22, from 6-8 pm and Saturday, March 23, from 12 - 1 p.m. at Crestview Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 23, at 1:00 p.m. in the Crestview Funeral Home, located at 1623 Highway, 109 North, Gallatin, TN, with Elders Lasserre Bradley, Jr. and Ronald Lawrence officiating. Pallbearers will include Joshua Hunt, Nathan Hunt, Earl Scott, Jeff Scott, Mike Scott, and Mike Elswick. Honorary pallbearers will include all of the deacons at Bethel Church.

Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum at Sumner Memorial Gardens, 420 Albert Gallatin Avenue, Gallatin TN, under the direction of Crestview Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, any memorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Bible Hour-Cincinnati, OH, Old Pond Primitive Baptist Church, Belfry, KY, or Bethel Primitive Baptist Church Building Fund.
