Obituary

Cherlyn Johnson, age 71, of Cottontown, Tennessee, peacefully entered into rest on June 24, 2026, at her residence. She was born on April 20, 1955, in Nashville, Tennessee.

Cherlyn was a vibrant woman with a free and loving spirit. She was always smiling and sharing conversations with others. Cherlyn was a captivating storyteller with her own life experiences, and a trusted confidant. She was a gentle listener and offered genuine advice without judgement.

In her youth, Cherlyn worked with the carnival and was known as “Peanut.” She was a true hippie with a zest for life, and her favorite color was tie-dye.

Later, she and her husband Steve, owned and operated JST-Janitorial Services from 1984 until 2018. Earning a trusted reputation through their reliable service.

Cherlyn was a phenomenal wife and mother, who devoted herself completely to her family.

She enjoyed quality time with her family, girl’s nights, painting, and attending comedy shows. One of her favorite past times, was porch sitting with her dogs.

Cheryln will be remembered for her loving nature, as well as her kind and generous heart.

Although she will be dearly and deeply missed, her family and friends take peace that Cherlyn is reunited with her husband.

Cherlyn Alice Johnson’s memory will be cherished by her daughter, Brandy Johnson (Garritt Miller); adopted daughter, Kelly Stafford (Tim Ector); fur baby, Max; grand-dogs, Honeybun and Trixie; as well as many friends.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of nearly 42 years, Steve Johnson; father, Richard “Dick” Oatts; mother, Jane Oatts; and sister-in-law, Sandy West.

A celebration of life in honor of Cherlyn Johnson will be conducted from the chapel of Crestview Funeral Home, on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 1:00 PM.

Visitation will be held at Crestview Funeral Home, on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM, and will continue on Wednesday, July 1, from 11:00 AM until service time.

Interment will immediately follow in Crestview Memory Gardens.
