Cecily Atcher Wingsong passed away on July 1, 2017 after a battle with cancer. She was born in Chicago IL on July 22, 1954. She graduated from Schaumburg H.S., Schaumburg IL and attended Northwestern University, Evanston, IL as a music major. She left NU to perform with her family, the Bob Atcher Family Singers, in shows across the Midwest, and later, she toured the country with several bands including Wyld Oats, Luzianne, and the Atcher Sisters. In 1988, Cecily moved to Nashville, TN, where she pursued a career as a solo artist and songwriter. In addition to her beautiful singing, she was an accomplished guitarist and banjo player.
Cecily Wingsong was a gifted intuitive counselor, a Reiki Master, and became a licensed massage therapist at Cumberland Institute, Brentwood, TN in 2004, to share her loving talents with every person she touched. Cecily developed a wide group of friends through her varied interests and active online presence. She loved her horses, dogs and cats, and cherished the country home and land she cultivated with her friend Will Webster in Red Boiling Springs, TN.
She is survived by her sister Chris Atcher Murov (Larry), her brother Robert W. Atcher (Sharon), and her nephew Robert Andrew Atcher. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert O. Atcher, and her mother, Marguerite W. Atcher. For those who are interested, donations may be made in her name to the Safe Harbor Equine Shelter in Cottontown TN. A celebration of her life will be held at the Armour's in Red Boiling Springs, TN on her birthday, July 22, 2017, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
