JONES, Cecil Paul Age 91 of Old Hickory passed away June 7, 2013. Mr. Jones was born, the fifth son of James Arthur and Mollie Hatton Jones on February 7, 1922 in Montgomery Co., KY. He is preceded in death by his parents and all seven siblings; Jay Frank, Leonard Mason, James Clifford, Fred Woodford, Clarence Lee, Ollie Calvin, and Glenna Mae; several nieces and nephews. Paul is survived by his daughter, Kathy Woodard Richard Biel; son, Billy Paul Cheryl White Jones; grandchildren, Jonathon Paul Julie Woodard, Morgan Jones Bobby Ulery, Sara Jones Kyle St. John, Rachel Andy Leftwich, Amie Biel and Jamie Rigsby; great grandchildren, Zakree Biel, LeVannia, Owen and Addison St. John, Eli and Isaac Ulery and Michael Blake Shelton; sister-in-law, Lyda Ellen Jones; eleven nieces and nephews. He was an honored veteran of WWII where he served as PFC in the U.S. Army in Europe as a parachutist in the 13th Airborne and later in the 82nd Airborne Division. After fracturing his spine in a jump into France in 1944, Mr. Jones spent the rest of his service time in hospitals in France, Germany, and the U.S., until his honorable discharge in 1946. He was active in the DAV Disabled American Veterans, the VFW Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of Abundant Life Church. He was a personable man that loved to laugh and joke. He enjoyed church, a good western, playing cards and NASCAR, with Mark Martin and Carl Edwards being his favorite drivers. He was a man of many talents throughout his life, with some them being a stunt car driver and an expert roller skater. Visitation, with family, will be Thursday June 13, 2013 at Hendersonville Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. A Life Celebration will be held 2:00pm Saturday June 15, 2013 at Abundant Life Church 1000 Woodridge Place, Mt. Juliet, TN, 37122, with visitation beginning at noon. The family would like to thank all of the angels at McKendree Rehab, in Hermitage, for the care and love they showered on their Daddy/Papaw.
