I knew Earl White only through the internet and, of course, listening to him on the Grand Ole Opry, but I have never known of anyone who knew him who had an unkind word to say about him. Our thoughts are with his entire family and his many friends.

Anita, you and Earl have always held a special place in my heart. I am so saddened by his passing, but I know he is at peace. Earl helped us launch an era of good country music on WYXE and then again on WTNK. Many laughs, sometimes long days, but he was always great company, Earl was a friend indeed. Earl Dog, is what I always called him. I never really knew if that bothered him or not, but he never let on, if it did. So long my friend. Anita, you were always a loving wife and lifetime partner to Earl, he was blessed to have you always by his side. My prayers are with you.

My memory of Earl White was seeing him play on stage at the Grand Ole Opry. I was listening to the show online from here in San Francisco, and I heard that Mr. White had passed away. So, I would like to take this opportunity to offer my condolences to the Earl White family and friends. Earl was a great musician.

Anita and Family, We the Savannah Central High School Graduating Class of 1954 wish to express our condolence. Our class always enjoyed being with James Earl and we loved his music. We enjoyed visiting with you and James Earl last fall at the Alumni Reunion and had no idea that would be the last time for us to be together. I talked with Glen Wallis last night and he told me that he, James Earl and several other guys from our class went to Nashville business school after graduating. He will be greatly missed. Now he has joined the other classmates that went before him and they are making a joyful noise making some of the best music he has ever made. May God give you , the children and grandchildren comfort during this difficult time.

Earl was such a kind and talented man. Can you imagine how many thousands of people have heard him play that fiddle on the Grand Ole Opry. I was able to work with Earl at WTNK in Hartsville and later able to visit him at the Opry. I did not get to see him a great deal, but I have lost a friend. R.I.P. Earl

To Earl White’s Family, Friends, and millions of Grand Ole Opry Fans:
I just learned of his expiration on the 7th. I listen to the opry
everytime it’s “On the Air”. Been many times. I thought he was
“On Vacation” when he wasn’t there this week. Sorry to
hear of his passing. He will definitely be missed. To All:
May the Happiest and Fondest Memories of Earl help each of you
through the approaching days, weeks, and months ahead.
