We will all miss & cherish special memories of Doug . He was truly a precious servant of our Lord. I will always remember seeing tears in his eyes as he lifted his arms praising our Lord in worship. He was thoughtful and caring to everyone . I feel so blessed to have spent time with him at the Veranda each week caring for our sweet special friends. He made such a positive heavenly difference in so many lives. We know we will see him in heaven when we join him there. I love you Gail. My prayers are with you and your family .
    Blessings Always,

My 1st cousin that I thought the world of. Truly a Christian man. Sadly we didn’t get to spend a lot of time together due to the miles between us. I may get shot for telling this but I think I am one of a small number (mostly family) that called him Buster. That’s the only name I knew him by till I was about grown. Then found out that both of us were Doug’s!! He didn’t have to tell anyone he was a Christian. His personality and works said it all. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the family. Rest In Peace Buster. Give Grandma and Granddaddy a hug for me.

I lived with Doug and Gail for 4.5 years after my husband died and am so sorry about Doug’s death. We would run into each other at different places since I moved and it was always a good visit. I am praying for all of you. I’m especially praying for Gail…I know that widowhood is never a wife’s hope or desire.
May the Lord give you and your family peace and comfort.
    Love, Sherri Burton

We have lost touch But we haven’t lost the fond memories of sitting around a lunch table after church (CHBC). Doug was always a great example of a godly man, and he always kept us laughing. Our condolences to Gal and the rest of the family We have no doubt that there is plenty of laughing in Doug’s new home in heaven.

So thankful for the impact Doug had on my father during Dad’s days at the Veranda! With Dad’s sharp mind, Doug and Joe provided conversation and fellowship that he needed. Doug truly had a servant’s heart and allowed God to use him in a wonderful ministry. Praying that God will give his perfect peace and comfort to the family.

Doug was such a blessing from God for my husband Ken at the Veranda. Ken thought the world of Doug. He also helped me get Ken in and out of our van at the Veranda. When Ken was no longer able to attend the Veranda, Doug would stop by and visit with him at home. He exemplified the meaning of “being a true Christian.” He was so kind to our family at the time of Ken’s death in November. 🙏🙏🙏
